Betty Szuchewycz served on the board of directors of the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan representing the Saskatchewan Irish Club. She was treasurer from 1988-1990 and chair of the Folk Arts,Crafts and Tourism Committee. Betty was killed in a tragic car crash in 1990. She is fondly remembered by many friends in the multicultural community. This award was first presented in 1991.
