Growing the Multicultural Council of
The board of directors of the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan has reviewed the constitution and bylaws with the goal of attracting new membership and growing the organization.
The board met in
Suggestions include: updating the membership categories to non profit organizations, corporations, individuals and affiliates. There is also a suggestion that the voting structure be one vote per member.
These changes are vital for the organization. We are required by our funder to focus on certain priorities such as: youth at risk, rural revitalization, the north and First Nations and Metis. These priorities require that we grow our membership, particularly in rural areas and with youth. Our membership structure is currently very limited and therefore we have largely had the same members for the past 20 years. Many of our members are struggling with the same issues that we face: staying current, attracting new volunteers and meeting the needs of our changing society. We feel that constitutional change will help us to REVITALIZE and that will to help ensure our growth and success which will also benefit the membership.
Please review the Constitutional proposal. E-mail mcos@accesscomm.ca or call (306) 721-2767 if you have any questions. Thank you to those individuals that have contributed ideas to date.
These changes will be voted on at the Annual General Meeting in Swift Current June 28, 2008.
